Our children are facing health challenges each and every day. Join us as we listen to local families about the importance of growing funding as well as awareness around cardiovascular health of our children.
This year's event will feature the story of our 2015 Heart Ball Princess, Mallory.
After being born with down syndrome, Mallory was quickly diagnosed with multiple congenital heart defects and faced two open heart surgeries and a stroke (which wasn’t revealed to us for another year and several months as she started to have seizures) all before the age of 1. It took months to properly diagnose and find the proper solution for controlling it. Fortunately now the medication she’s on seems to have it well under control. The unfortunate part is that the stroke happened very close to the part of the brain that processes communication. It is believed she is having a more difficult time of making strides in this area because of the stroke location.
